CustomWare delivers JIRA solution for LogicaCMG in Europe
When WM-data (a LogicaCMG company) planned to extend their usage of the Atlassian JIRA issue tracking platform, they contacted CustomWare to deliver bespoke plugin development services. CustomWare used their extensive experience with the JIRA back-end, and produced a solution that leveraged the existing JIRA functionality to support future upgrades to the product and a portable custom solution for LogicaCMG.
The Deliverables
CustomWare used their proven delivery methodology - CustomWare Controlled Delivery Methodology (CCDM) - to document and implement the JIRA customizations for LogicaCMG, and they engaged their plugin development team to provide a high quality set of plugins and customizations. CustomWare provided LogicaCMG with access to their wiki - Confluence - for a complete set of installation instructions and project specifications.
The project required two major customizations of the JIRA product:
Custom Project Fields - LogicaCMG required specific information to be stored about each project in JIRA. CustomWare's solution utilized the existing custom field functionality of JIRA, and extended the solution to allow custom fields to be defined at a project level. Using some clever Velocity template customizations, CustomWare transparently integrated the project custom fields into the JIRA administration facility.
Billable Hours Work Log Customization - LogicaCMG needed JIRA to match the existing billing process of their company, and required a solution that would allow individual JIRA users to indicate the "billable hours" included in each work log. CustomWare delivered a Velocity template customization, along with a set of integrated database tables to store the required data. This solution was also integrated transparently into the standard JIRA functionality.
