Associating a Salesforce Object with Jira Issues

This guide walks you through the process of associating a Salesforce object with Jira issues.

An administrator must have already configured a Jira Associate button button before you are able to do this.

Guide

The steps to associate a Jira issue to a Salesforce Object are as follows and the example used is of a Salesforce Case.

    1. Go to the Salesforce Case that you want to associate a Jira issue with.

    2. Find and click a button/link labeled Associate with Jira or the label that was named in the Setup in Salesforce.

    3. This should open a new window.
On the dynamic textbox, type in the Jira Issue Summary or Jira Issue Key the Salesforce Case will be associated with.

Note that you can associate the remote object to multiple Jira Issues.
The Association options are as listed below:
        • Associate Only - Associate without synchronization
        • Associate and push to Jira - Associate and push the update to Jira issues

    4. Click on Associate to "bind" the Jira Issue(s) and Salesforce Case together.

    Notes

    • "Associating" a Salesforce Object or Objects to a Jira Issue shouldn't be confused with "Linking" a Salesforce Object to a Jira Issue. The functionality of association between the two systems "binds" the two objects together wherein the mapped fields between the two can be synchronized to and from. Using the Linking functionality will just add a HTML element to the Jira Issue to the Salesforce Object(s).
    • Note that it is possible to associate multiple cases with multiple Jira Issues. Just do the same steps for the Salesforce Objects you want to be synchronized with Jira.
    • You may also associate 1 Jira Issue to multiple Salesforce objects, up to a maximum of 13.
