Discuss, record, and finalize your project decisions with this template.
Do you feel like every day brings an onslaught of new decisions to make? Whether it's the number of decisions or identifying which decisions to make first, this template will simplify and structure the process. When making important decisions for a project, development plan or an event, it's important to have a clear process that ensures the best possible outcome. The purpose of this template is to provide a guide for a thoughtful and rigorous decision-making process - from outset to outcome.
How to use the Decision template:
Step 1: Decision overview
First, provide a high-level overview of the decision to be made, team members and contributors, approvers, expected outcome and expected delivery date.
Step 2: Why this decision is important
State the background on why it needs to be discussed and what will be impacted. Besides it, provide any related information that can help the discussion itself. The Text Data macro is a rich text field that allows most of the wiki markup format hence feel free to add links or tables inside it.
Step 3: Options for consideration
In this section, list the options to be considered, the pros and cons of each option, and estimated cost of each option. An analysis of this information will reveal whether the option can viably be implemented or not. Use the status column included in the table to note whether or not to proceed with each option.
Step 4: Make it actionable
With the options now listed, the team can create the necessary Action items.
Step 5: Record the outcome
Last but not least, once the action items are complete and a final decision is made, make sure all the information in the table is correct and includes the actual outcomes. Make sure it is shared with all team members. Teams will also be able to use this as reference when faced with similar decisions in the future.
